From the Weekend

It doesn't take much to make me happy.  What I really, really wanted for Mother's Day was for John to finally replace the side of one of our sheds that was rotting and falling off. It made me irrationally happy and I keep smiling now when I look out in the backyard and see a nice side of a shed instead of the old ickiness(that's a word!).

As an added bonus, he also did the grocery shopping this weekend, so it was a stellar holiday!  We topped it all off with brunch with my family, a delivery of flowers and cards to his mom at work, swimming in the baby pool and play in the sprinkler in the backyard(less than 2 weeks now until the pool opens!) while John and I worked on yard stuff, started to prep for a fairy garden, got a bunch of plants for crazy cheap that were leftovers from an herb and garden fair (including Rose of Sharons for $4 each to finally make a real hedge!) and grilled 2 nights in a row.

p.s. Help??  It's time to officially admit to myself that I'm getting old and wrecking my feet by wearing non-supportive flip flops all summer.  I need sandals that are legit and have support, but don't look completely hideous and/or like I'm 90 years old.  I really don't want to spend a ton, but I think I need to suck it up and spend the money.  These Birks and these Chacos are at the top of the list right now with these Tevas for throwing on in the backyard or to go to the pool. Does anyone have favorites to share??

  1. I'm not a fan of Birks - but love the Chacos and Tevas - now I have another thing in my cart... :)

  4. Man, your world just gets more beautiful all the time! I come to your blog, to feel calmer and enjoy the beauty. And the chicks– they've gotten so big! The chickens too. ;-)

Memorial Day is when all the sales are... wait until then! Ecco has some great sandals, with lots of support and and comfort. My vote: the Birks are the cutest, the Chaccos look a bit old lady, the Tevas are ok, but not much support. Birks last forever (I've had that pair in turquoise for 3 years and they still look like new). For a lot of people, anything that has flip flop toe design, causes foot problems... hence the Eccos.

  5. I have been buying Bass flip flop style for the last couple summers. Good support albeit still a flip flop. For me it has to be something I can slip in and out of, no buckles, straps allowed! Good luck!

  6. I've been thinking about the same thing. I have a pair of salt water sandals that I love because you can get them wet and they are just fine. They don't have a lot of support, though. I have been considering those same Berks. Even though I am not really a Berks person. Everyone who has them seems to love them. Good luck and let us know how it goes!!!!
